I know you’re reading this either on Sunday or Monday, and not Friday. The dreaded flu took me captive, and that’s where I’ve been for the past week. But don’t worry, I’m ready to get back into the swing of things!
A little over a year ago, I stumbled across the Colourpop website – solely because I caught wind of Stephanie Nicole’s review of the Kylie Cosmetics Kylie Lip Kits. At the time, the lip kits had been out for a while, and were extremely popular. They released a new formula, which was seemingly identical to that of the Colourpop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Lip. Now that is some serious detective work.
If you haven’t already watched Stephanie’s review, you can watch it here. It’s definitely worth the watch.
So I went over to Colourpop, and purchased the Lumiére 2 Ultra Matte Lip (which at first I totally didn’t realise it was a collaboration with Kathleen Lights), and the Lumiére lip liner. And that’s when I fell in love with Colourpop. It’s a Colourpop love story 🙂
Fast-forward to now – I have purchased some more goodies. And they did not disappoint. Not a single product!!
All pricing listed in this post is in USD. Please be sure to check the exchange rate before purchasing, and check with your bank or financial institution as they may charge additional conversion fees.
If you’ve never ordered from Colourpop before, they ship to Australia real quick. My package came in under a week. Not even joking – it came before my Priceline package, which I ordered on the same day as Colourpop.
I haven’t been sponsored to write this, I promise. I just feel like I’ve hit the jackpot with this brand 🙂
These lipsticks are a collaboration with Kathleen Lights (one of my favourite beauty vloggers of all time), and I’m loving these! In the bundle, you get an Ultra Matte Lip, an Ultra Satin Lip, and an Ultra Glossy Lip. Each lipstick is slightly different to each other. I’m terrible at explaining colours – I’ll just tell you that all three are nude lipsticks.
According to the Colourpop website, these are the shades of each lippie.
– Aquarius 2 (UML) – A mauvey nude
– Aquarius (USL) – A soft pinky nude
– Aquarius (UGL) – Also a soft pinky nude
Although the Glossy and Satin Lips are both pinky nudes, they are slightly different in colour if you look closely at the swatches below.
You can see that each one has a slightly different tinge. So if you’re worried about paying for three different lipsticks that are the same colour – don’t panic. They are similar, but each one is different to the other.
I’ve started to grow my Ultra Matte Lip collection, because I am totally and utterly obsessed with these lipsticks. At $6 a pop, they are still cheaper than most lippies you can purchase here in Australia, even after converting them back to AUD. The formula has changed a couple of times, but I’ve never had an issue with these at all. They’re all consistent in terms of pigmentation and longevity.
Just real quick, I’m going to start a new series of posts soon where I take lipsticks for a ‘test drive’. Stay tuned!
The lipsticks that I purchased are:
- Bumble (a warm rose)
- Clueless (a dusty mauve)
- Friday (a true black) – and no, I’m not going goth
As you can see from the swatches below, they dry down quite nicely.
Tip: For the really dark lippies, it might be harder to remove than most other lipsticks. I suggest making sure your lips have been properly exfoliated, as these will cling to any dry patches. Eeek!
I am in love with these shadows. No joke, I can’t stop touching them. They feel really creamy and bouncy to the touch, and the pigmentation is out of this world!!! For the best results, these should be applied with your finger. But if you have a flat shadow brush and you wet it, that could work too.
The shadows I purchased are:
- Porter (a deep warm burgundy with gold ultra-glitter)
- Wattles (a dusty beige pink satin)
- Prickly Pear (a lavender with gold and violet ultra-glitter)
Fun fact – I actually ordered the shadow Weenie instead of Wattles – somehow I got it by mistake. But oh boy, this turned out to be the best mistake! This photo doesn’t do it justice, but it has a soft pink satin glow kind-of thing going on. I can’t even begin to describe it!
Also, I think Prickly Pear is my new favourite eyeshadow. It shimmers like there’s no tomorrow.
Hopefully I’ve now inspired you to take a look into Colourpop. For what you pay, these products are of brilliant quality. No doubt I’ll be back very soon with another haul!
